Earlier, Laura Quiñones Navarro had spoken passionately, her voice trembling as she defended Puerto Rico’s fragile cultural institute. “You cannot repair what you ignore,” she urged, her words echoing the symposium’s core—preserving Afro-Latino histories as acts of resistance. Arturo Schomburg’s legacy loomed large, a reminder that even without formal titles, one could build monuments to memory.
